“Zippo Windy” refers to the iconic pin-up girl named “Windy,” created by glamour illustrator Enoch Bolles, who became the spokesmodel for Zippo lighters. Introduced in Zippo’s first national advertisement in Esquire magazine in December 1937, Windy was designed to highlight the lighter’s windproof feature, depicted leaning into the wind while lighting a cigarette. Her image became a cultural icon and a favorite among Zippo collectors. Origin: Commissioned by Zippo founder George G. Blaisdell to make the lighter memorable, Windy debuted as the “Windproof Beauty” in 1937.
