How to Fix a Zippo That Will Not Light
Check the Fuel

Replace the Flint

Rotate the wheel backward several times. Remove the spring and use an opened paper clip carefully if old flint fragments remain inside the tube.
Trim the Wick
Pull the blackened wick upward with tweezers until clean material appears. Trim it evenly with the top of the chimney.
After refilling: Wipe the insert, case and your hands completely dry before testing the lighter. Never ignite it near spilled fuel.
