Chinese Dragon in Urushi Maki-e
This Japanese Zippo uses a flowing Chinese dragon as the focal point of its lacquer composition. The elongated body and sweeping curves suit the vertical Zippo case, while metallic Maki-e detail gives definition to the scales, claws and surrounding ornamental forms.
Gold decorative material and gold leaf stand out against the dark urushi background, producing a strong traditional-art contrast without relying on modern printed graphics. The gold-tone insert continues the exterior palette inside the lighter.
